The fireball I observed was about 3-5 times the size of what Venus looks like on a clear moonless night and similar in color. Just kind of a bright light blueish in color. I was traveling from North to South and saw the fireball to the East of me from my drivers window. It appeared to be on a parallel North to South path. The flash was somewhat dim like it was distant, but it was very distinct and noticeable. It's also worth noting that my windows are tinted rather dark so my estimation of brightness could be affected by that.

Just as the fireball went out of sight below the tree line East of me, the sky lit up similar to a transformer blowing in the distance or a lightning flash.
