Notlar | This was an extremely bright object. I was inside, laying on my couch, in a fully lit house, when it came into view from my eaves, I don't know where it started from, as the eave blocked it, and I watched it disappear behind the hill. I am at the edge of civilization, very few houses in the next few hundred km west of me. The sky was cloudy, or possibly ice fog, no stars or moon were visible. So it must have been very low. A once in a life time event. I tried watching for the Geminid meteor shower a couple of weeks ago. From both inside a blackened room, and outside, until I froze, and saw nothing but stars, even after the moon set. When the moon sank below the horizon (hill) on the night before the shower peak, it went down in roughly the same direction/spot as the fireball. The night of the shower peak was cloudy, so I missed it. |
